Solar PV
We design and install solar photovoltaic (PV) systems and battery storage. We also service, repair and upgrade existing systems, including adding a battery to panels you already have.
How Solar Electric Systems Work
Solar panels produce electricity from light. An inverter changes the direct-current electricity produced by the panels into alternating-current electricity that is the same as electricity supplied from the National Grid. A battery stores surplus electricity from the day so you can use it in the evening.
Getting Paid for Your Surplus Electricity
Under the Smart Export Guarantee (SEG), energy suppliers pay you for the electricity you export to the grid. To qualify, your system must be MCS certified; ask us about this when you get in touch.
The Feed-in Tariff (FiT) closed to new applicants in 2019. If you already receive FiT payments, these continue as before, and we can service or upgrade your existing system.
Benefits of Solar PV
- Lower electricity bills, using the power you generate yourself
- A battery lets you use more of your own electricity, and less from the grid
- Payments for the electricity you export, through the Smart Export Guarantee
- 0% VAT on residential solar panels and batteries, currently scheduled until 31 March 2027
- Lower CO2 emissions
There are many different systems on the market, and some batteries can be retrofitted to existing solar PV systems. Contact us for more information. We can advise you according to your requirements, or arrange a site visit to discuss in more detail, all without charge and with no obligation.
